Several local volunteer fire departments took part in a large-scale pre-planed hazardous materials drill on Sunday, May 16. The drill, hosted by the Massapequa FD, was run by the Nassau County Police Intelligence Section of Homeland Security, and has been in the planning stage for six months.
On May 18 voters approved the Farmingdale School District’s budget with a 1.96 percent tax levy increase. The passed budget is a 3.27 percent increase over the 2009/10 budget. The budget received 2,121 yes votes and 1,610 no votes.

He noted the focus of the budget was to ensure that sustainable programs, accompanied by their long-term budgets in subsequent years to come, created the comprehensive need for flexibility and foresight when drawing up the proposed budget.
Congratulations to the Lady Dalers Varsity Basketball players who each won awards at the Nassau County Girls Basketball Coaches Association on March 23 at Crest Hollow Country Club.
Head Coach Pete Cerrone and his assistants Jess Dlabola and Dave Stein are very proud of the girls who won awards in All Conference, All Class and All County. The Lady Dalers had a good season winning one play-off game. Cerrone is looking forward to next season as the team is losing only one player due to graduation.
Republic Airport in East Farmingdale is in the beginning stages of its Vision Plan, airport officials said.
The airport has hired DY Consultants, a Roslyn-based consulting firm, to prepare a Vision Plan and Statement for the airport.
