Helen M. Courtney, of Bethpage, formerly of North Massapequa, passed away February 25, 2010. Partner of Harry Cummings. Predeceased in 1979 by her husband, James J. Courtney. Mother of Mary Bencivengo (Charles), Paul (Heather), Clara Blodget (Bob), Claudia Geier (Bill), James (Joan), Christopher (Patricia), Helen (Tony) and Brian (Susan). Grandmother of 19. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held March 1 at St. Kilian RC Church with interment following at Calverton National Cemetery. Donations in Helen’s name may be sent to the American Diabetes Association.

James A. Tempia, of South Farmingdale, passed away February 22, 2010. Husband of 61 years to Eileen (nee Finnegan). Father of George Daniel (Diana), James William, Eileen Stewart (Donald) and predeceased by Thomas Robert. Survived by eight grandchildren, sisters Lucy Stolber, Josephine Blackman, Doris Cathers, Marie Krause, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. James was a WWII Air Force veteran and retired from NY Telephone Company after 43 years of service. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held Feb. 26 at St. Kilian RC Church. Cremation was private.

Harry G. Miller, age 81, formerly of Farmingdale, passed away February 16, 2010. Harry was a long time member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Farmingdale and served as a past president of the Church Council. He was a member and past chaplin of the Murrells Inlet Masonic Lodge # 368, a lifetime member of the VFW Post # 10420, American Legion Post # 0178 and Murrells Inlet Elks #2797. He was a decorated Korean War veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by a brother John Miller.

Father of Lynn (George), Arlene (Edward, dec.), Larry Jr. (Nancy), Robert (Sharon), Patricia (Mark) and Pamela. Grandfather of Kevin (Kelli), Keith, Jason, Justin, Erika (Paul), Shannon, Chris, Ryann, Kyle and Casey. Also survived by great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Lindsay. He was preceded in his death by his brother Arthur (Teresa) of New Brunswick, Canada. Lawrence was honored veteran of the U.S. Army in WWII in the South Pacific. We will all miss him greatly.
