Margaret C. Baerst (nee Coughlan), age 93, formerly of Farmingdale, died on Aug. 7 in Albuquerque, NM. Peggy, as she was known, met Frank Baerst at the Young People’s Club of St. Kilian’s Parish and later married there. In 1964, they relocated to White Sands, NM, with the Grumman Aircraft LEM Project.
As a young woman, Peggy sang with the Brigadiers of St. Kilian Parish and then later with the Woman’s Chorus under the direction of Arpad Darazs.
A Mass will be celebrated for her on Aug. 14 at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin in Albuquerque. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Peggy was predeceased by her son Stephen and husband Frank in April and October of 2006. She is survived by children, Janet Liotta, Carl Baerst, Peggy McClure, Eileen Sudela and Susan Baerst; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
