Father And Son Sleight Of Hand

Raciti family magic duo becoming talk of Long Island

Being an illusionist generally takes years to perfect in order to entertain hundreds of people during shows. For 13-year-old Tyler Raciti, however, magic has come naturally to him since the age of 8, when he and his father, Richard, began performing acts under the name Amagicnation.

They are the only father-and-son magic act in the nation, making their shows all that more unique. Their shows have become increasingly popular, as they have been performing weekly at resorts in the Poconos and at upstate New York’s Rocking Horse Ranch. They also perform at private parties and country clubs throughout Long Island. No matter the size of the gig, the Raciti magic act will find a way to accommodate their customers.

Despite their busy schedule, they were able to perform a charity show at Cohen’s Hospital in Garden City, which was a very different experience for the illusionists.

“Of all the shows, even ones for 800-1,000 people, this was one of my hardest,” said Richard Raciti. “Some of the kids had stage four cancer, it was very sad. Hopefully it was able to bring them some delight for the day.”

It is certainly a testament to their values that they were able to perform a show in which the audience was atypical from their usual shows, while still bringing a smile to their faces.

The shows can be tailored for any type of party and age of people. While their acts have garnered the attention of children, they also perform shows that are adult-only that involve mature humor.

The duo incorporates several types of magic acts into their shows that last 45-55 minutes and include 15 acts. They are able to engage the audience by choreographing their shows to popular music from films Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, adding another enhanced dimension to the experience.

The duo is also very proactive with audience interaction by handing out props like glow sticks, wands and free prizes. Some of the acts are as simple as card tricks, while others can be much more elaborate, involving exotic animals. In one show, they were actually able to make a motorcycle appear to vanish in front of the spectators. Regardless of the situation, they will conduct a show that is sure to take show attendees on a “magical journey to the edge of your imagination” as it is stated on their profile.

They also own a magic shop in Hicksville that was once visited by world-renowned illusionist and fellow Long Islander Criss Angel.

Richard Raciti and his son Tyler have certainly made a name for themselves with their unique “two-for-one” magic acts. The mastery of their craft has found Amagicnation gaining in popularity, particularly for those hosts planning to make their next social occasion one to remember.
