The relative new kid on the block on the East End, the Greenport Harbor Brewing Company celebrates its fourth anniversary this week. At 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, the brewery will be throwing a block party-style celebration. There is an open invitation for the public to join owner, staff and special guests to commemorate the past four years and expansion going forward. The gala kicks off with a special keg tapping ceremony featuring a limited edition anniversary brew called #4.
This anniversary beer is a blend of German Spalt Select and Czech Saaz resulting in a lightly bittered ale highlighted by aromas reminiscent of summer fruit and fresh cut grass. It will be available in very limited supplies at key accounts following its July 20 debut. Founded by college friends John Liegey and Rich Vandenburgh, the Greenport Harbor Brewery produces a dozen beers from standards (Harbor Pale, Black Duck Porter, Weesh’d Scotch Ale) to seasonals (Leaf Pile Ale, Anti-Freeze, Spring Turning Rye Saison).
This anniversary celebration anniversary celebration will be hosted at Greenport Harbor Brewing Company’s current production facility at 234 Carpenter St. and will also feature great food and music mixed with great beer and friends. Tickets for the event are on sale now. Purchase tickets online in advance of the event for $25. Attendees receive a pint glass, five tasting tickets and a meal ticket or tickets can be purchased at the door on event day for $30 (cash only) and includes four tasting tickets and a meal ticket.
