'Greening of Nassau' Project Provides Trees to Nassau School Districts
Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Nassau County, in cooperation with Nassau County Legislator David Denenberg, Nassau County Dept. of Public Works Commissioner Raymond Ribeiro, the United States Department of Agriculture, and other partners who represent the business community, environmental groups, and community organizations have come together to initiate an environmental project to benefit all of Nassau County.

Bill to Combat Suburban Teen Heroin Epidemic Signed Into Law
Nassau County Legislator Dave Mejias (D-Farmingdale) proposed the first law of its kind in the country that would require law enforcement to notify school officials when an arrest is made for heroin possession and/or sale. It was unanimously approved by the Nassau County Legislature and signed into law Dec. 22 by County Executive Tom Suozzi.
