Longtime Floral Park resident, Elizabeth Williams Kilbride, died on March 10, 1998 at Mercy Manor Nursing Home in Huguenot, NY. She was 100 years old. Mrs. Kilbride, who was born in Brooklyn on March 12, 1897, lived in Floral Park from 1934 until 1989, raised her family there and was an active member of the United Methodist Church. A 35-year employee of Doubleday Publishing headquarters in Garden City, Mrs. Kilbride served as manager of the company bookstore, retiring in 1968.

Mrs. Kilbride was predeceased by sons John Jay Kilbride, former Bellerose Village resident and president of the Floral Park-Bellerose School Board, and Robert Dennis Kilbride. She is survived by daughter-in-law Muriel Kilbride of New Canaan, CT; five grandchildren, John Kilbride of E. Windsor, NJ, William Kilbride of Chattanooga, TN, David Kilbride of New Canaan, Richard Kilbride of Pasadena, CA and Ann Kilbride-McCarthy of Hoboken, NJ, all who grew up in Bellerose Village and attended the Floral Park schools; 10 great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson. She is also survived by two nieces, both formerly of Floral Park, Nancy Smith Swartwout of Huguenot and Ruth Smith Woody of Bristol, VA. Funeral arrangements were made by Parker Gray of Huguenot. Graveside ceremony took place at Greenfield Cemetery on March 12.
