Since the Floral Park Knights of Columbus Bowlers hit their '98 stride, it's been "more of the same" week after week, as they punish the Bellerose wood in typical Council 2345 fashion. Not content with spilling the pins in the ordinary manner, the local Caseys have been putting up great numbers during each outing with the quiet promise of even better scores in weeks to come.

"Knobby" Gregory was Top Macho Man in the Hotshot Department, cranking out a nifty 224 single on his way to a 601 triple as John Luger dogged "Knobby's" heels with a 247 masterpiece that led to a 594 three-gamer. Paul Simonetti's 205 solo effort gave him a 571 trio, a step up on Joe Oswald who used a 226 loner to card a 560 set, Eddy Goodloe had a solid 557 edging Rich Lahey's 550 total built on a 228 solo effort and a Tommy Moore 549, while Mike Gallagher was spilling 536 hunks of maple, Frank Dehler was in Mike's bowling shirt with a 535, an Eddy White 208 solo gave him a 514 trio and John O'Grady put a 508 on the books. John Bartow and Chet Strzepek did a "Brother Act," both posting 506s, while Jim Kearney and Bob Mashburn were outside The Hotshot Clubhouse with their faces pressed to the window-Jim rolling a 499 "almost" set and Bob a 199 "almost" game.

Team action saw the Whacos, bossed by Ted Nowacki lose a 4-3 nailbiter to Paul Simonetti's Team MOSS, while Eddy Goodloe was piloting his Gloms to a 5-2 win over the Pat Sweeney-led Mailmen. The Standing Pat Four, captained by Pat Murphy took Tony Morena and his Team THREEs into camp via a 5-2 count, the Saints, quarterbacked by "Knobby" Gregory handed Jim Kearney and his J. Crew a 5-2 setback and, ending the night's activity, the Shumstetters, with Joe Oswald calling the signals, whitewashed Jimmy O'Neill's Dot Heads in a 7-0 rout.
