The FRIENDS of the Floral Park Library will hold their 50th anniversary FRIENDS book sale on the library's grounds and in the meeting room on Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event always draws huge crowds to browse through the fiction, reference and children's books available for purchase at very reasonable prices. The sale will also include records, CDs and video tapes. They are used but still enjoyable.
In addition to the regular book sale other activities highlighting the 50th anniversary of the FRIENDS will include a roving clown "friendly" book baskets for lucky library sponsors, a table displaying interesting book ends, an old fashioned cake sale, and a new book table will give people the opportunity to donate selected books for the library shelves.
The FRIENDS will be busy the week before the sale, sorting through the library discards and public donations and arranging them so that customers can locate them easily. Throughout the year FRIENDS volunteers work to prepare for the annual June book sales. Anyone who is interested in volunteering this year is urged to sign up at the library circulation desk. Helpers are needed to work at the sale and assist with clean-up.
A bargain night book sale will be held on Monday, June 15 from 7-9 p.m. Books will be sold for $1 per bag, with no limit.
All proceeds of the sale will be used to benefit the Floral Park Public Library. It is time to renew membership in the FRIENDS. Patrons are invited to join while at the book sale or by filling out the new anniversary bookmark application form at the library, or by contacting co-presidents Ann and Bill Corbett at 775-0435.
The Floral Park Library is located at the corner of Tulip Ave. and Caroline Pl. across from the Long Island Railroad Station.
