Last Thursday's explosive exhibition of pin-pounding, by the Floral Park Knights of Columbus bowlers was, by far, the most outstanding night ever recorded in the more than half-century-old league's existence. Throughout this year's activity, the Caseys put up almost unbelievable numbers, night after night but last Thursday's assault on the hapless pins was a sight to behold for any bowling enthusiast.

Tommy Moore donned the Royal Robes of Hotshot King, using a 222 solo to card a fine 603 trio, a step up on Bob Mashburn's 599 "almost" that included 225 and 204 games, while John Luger was downing 590 sticks, 232 in one sterling effort. A Pat Sweeney 200 single led to a 569 triple while Frank Dehler and Mike Honan were locked at 560 - Mike banging out a 232 beauty, on the way. Paul Simonetti had a solid 553, Richie Biggin was a whisker behind, at 552 with a 201 one-gamer tossed in and Knobby Gregory shot a 547. A Chet Strezepek 214 solo game him a 546, nosing out Mike Gallagher's 544, built on a 200 loner while Tony Morena's 202 single led to a 540 triple. Eddy Goodloe spilled 536 pins, Pat Murphy posted a 526 and Eddy Hackimer put a 517 on the books. Jim Kearney's 507 set showed a 205 single effort, John O'Grady cranked out a 502 while Bob Sheehan posted a two-game total of 393, with a 211 solo tossed in and John Bartow got into the act, with a 204 one-gamer. Walter Canteel was left at the post, scoring a 499 "almost."

In team action, Teddy Nowacki's league-leading Wachos handed the Paul Simonetti-led Team MOSS a 502 setback while the Gloms, with Eddy Goodloe at the helm, was doing a 5-2 number on the Mailmen, quarterbacked by Pat Sweeney. Knobby Gregory's Saints eked out a nailbiter, 4-3 win over the Standing Pat forces bossed by Pat Murphy and Jimmy O'Neill's Dotheads did a whitewash job on the Jim Kearney-led J. Crew, via a 7-0 count. Ending the night's 'brotherly bombardment', the Team Three outfit, with Tony Morena in the driver's seat, downed Joe Oswald's Shumstetters, in a 502 encounter.
