Residents of the Village of Floral Park recently joined to dedicate its newest park, Heritage Park, built at no cost to the taxpayers. A plaque, commemorating the village's founder, John Lewis Childs, was also unveiled at the ceremony. The FP Conservation Society successfully completed its first planting task inside the fences of Centennial Gardens and Bird Sanctuary with the seeding of the wildflower meadow in the eastern basin. Hundreds of hours of labor went into the effort to clear the designated area of decades of broken glass, cans and other debris in preparation for the wildflower seeds. FULL STORY

Over 200 runners participated in this year's Belmont Stakes Festival Floral Park Youth Council 5K, One Mile and Pee Wee Runs held last Sunday, June 3, running through the streets of Floral Park and the backstretch of Belmont Park.
