Dead Body Found in Floral Park
A male body was found shot dead at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, Aug. 15, at 229 Jericho Turnpike in Floral Park. The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Daniel Oscar Pomales of Queens Village. Police reports said Pomales was found in the basement of the Jericho Turnpike office building, which housed his online vacation property rental company. According to Homicide Squad detectives, a worker arriving at On Line Rentals discovered Pomales, a victim of several gunshot wounds, lying on the floor in the rear room.

Village Will Unveil First Historical Marker
While plans for Floral ParkÕs Spirit Weekend, expected to be held Sept. 21-23, are near completion, so are plans for a "short but history-making" program honoring village founder John Lewis Childs. The historical society will be unveiling the villageÕs first authentic historical marker at his original home on Tulip Avenue Sept. 23 to celebrate the prominent figure in Floral ParkÕs history.
