This spring has been an amazing sports season for Garden City High School, with five of the school's varsity teams winning Nassau County Championships.
The Boy's Baseball team, last Wednesday, won the second of the best of three series against Wantagh to take the Nassau Class B Championship. This win comes after topping last year's championship team Division Avenue High School and then defeating Island Trees in the playoffs to earn the team's place in the county championships. This is the first time the varsity baseball team has won the county championships since 1945.
Also on Wednesday, the Boy's Lacrosse team defeated Port Washington 14-9 at Hofstra to win the Class B Nassau County Title for the 12th time.
The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team, last Wednesday, defeated Manhasset 12-10 to win the Nassau County Small Schools Championship at CW Post.
On Friday, the Girl's Softball team won the best of three series against Island Trees to win the Title B Nassau County Championship at Cantiague Park. The series went all three games with Island Trees taking the first game and Garden City coming back to win the next two games.
Rounding out this incredible season was the Girl's Track team who were also named County Champs.
At press time these championship teams were headed towards the regional and state competitions and next week we'll provide an update of how each of these teams fared in the championship games.
