Even though the Garden City High School Varsity Baseball team finished second behind Wantagh with a 12-5 conference record and overall 15-7 mark, the Trojans still finished on top, at least in terms of shared life experience. One of the great things about team sports is the fact that everyone wearing the same jersey gets to experience the highs, lows and everything in between that you go through in the pursuit of victory and success. Amid all the sportsmanship, athletic skills and failure that occurs between those white lines is a solid bond that gets formed and only gets burnished over the course of time and faded memories. It’s a feeling well worth pursuing regardless of wherever your team may end up finishing.
