Senator Kemp Hannon continues to call upon the Obama Administration to move the 9/11 terror trials out of New York.
“Holding these trials in New York is an insult to the families of the victims of 9/11,” said Senator Kemp Hannon. “Additionally, the potential cost of the trial for New York taxpayers is unacceptable,” continued Hannon.
The resolution (J3889) calling on the Obama administration to reverse its decision to conduct the 9/11 terror trials in New York overwhelmingly won passage of the Senate. The resolution was introduced by State Senator Vincent Leibell and supported by Senator Hannon.
According to recent published reports, the Obama Administration is still considering conducting the trial in New York City, despite public opposition.
“On September 11th, all Americans felt the pain of one of our nation’s greatest tragedies,” said Hannon. “To hold these trials merely blocks away from where the Twin Towers fell on that tragic day is blatantly inappropriate. The people of New York have spoken and I hope the Obama Administration chooses to listen,” Hannon continued.
