The annual village election will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, from noon to 9 p.m., at Village Hall, 351 Stewart Ave. Village residents will be voting for the following candidates:
Donald T. Brudie - Trustee – two-year term
John J. Watras - Trustee – two-year term
Nicholas P. Episcopia - Trustee – two-year term
Brian C. Daughney - Trustee – two-year term
Since the incorporation of the village in 1919, members of the board of trustees in Garden City have been elected by a non-partisan vote of residents in accordance with the policies of the Community Agreement.
If a qualified voter is not going to be in the village to vote in the General Village Election on March 16, 2010, they may apply for an absentee ballot. These applications are available at the Village Hall, 351 Stewart Ave. According to New York State Election Law, applications had to be received by the village clerk by March 9, if the ballot was to be mailed. A qualified voter may come in to Village Hall in person to apply for an application up until March 15. If the village clerk deems that the absence is justifiable, they will be given an absentee ballot at that time. If you have any questions, feel free to call the village clerk, Brian Ridgway at 465-4053.
The next regularly scheduled board of trustees’ meetings will be held on Thursday, March 18, at 8 p.m.
I encourage residents to periodically utilize the village’s website for information regarding the village’s operations, as well as items of seasonal and special interest. The address is www.garden cityny.net. For your convenience, listed on the village’s home page (under the Heading of Administration) is information listing Village Hall hours and a directory with the telephone numbers of village department heads.
