The Recreation Department is running a second session of our very popular PeeWee Sports Sampler for 4- and 5-year-olds. This session will begin the week of April 5. Each week your child will be given an introduction to a different sport, using equipment geared to his/her age level in a non-competitive atmosphere. The 55-minute classes will be held in St. Paul’s Field House according to the following schedule:

The Garden City Recreation Department is proud to announce its Spring Roller Hockey Program. Whether you played last season or haven’t played in a couple of years, now is the perfect time to sign up and experience all the fun. The spring season is set to begin the weekend of Friday, April 9. This season we are excited to be adding a new program for ages 14-16. All programs take place at Community Park’s Roller Rink.
Applications are now being accepted for the upcoming 2010 Thunder Football season. If you are 7 years old with a birth date of 12/01/02 or later you are eligible to start a Thunder Football career. The Garden City Recreation Department is sponsoring a Middle School Rec. Night for seventh- and eighth-graders on Friday, March 5 in St. Paul’s Fieldhouse. This party will be chaperoned by the Recreation staff and will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $5. A DJ will provide music and refreshments will be available for a nominal charge. The gym will be open for basketball, volleyball, dancing and other games.
Please note: Once the children are in our facility for this activity, they will not be allowed to leave unless accompanied by an adult. Please come into the building to pick up your child. For further information, call the Recreation Office at 465-4075.

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray presents commemorative football celebrating 2009 Long Island Championship to Head Coach Tom Flatley of Garden City High School during a town hall ceremony honoring the team’s recent title.
The GC Centennial Soccer Club is looking for boys born between Aug. 1, 1994 and Dec. 31, 1995 who would be interested in playing soccer at the travel level this spring season.

The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club will be opening their spring season on Saturday, April 10. Girls play 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and boys play from 1-5 p.m. (with the exception of Pre-K, kindergarten and first grade). The registration deadline is Jan. 31. Registrations that are received after Jan. 31 will be accepted based on space and availability and are subject to a $25 late fee.
