Are you looking for a fun way to stretch and tone your body? The Recreation Department is offering dance classes to help move those muscles and get back into shape. The adult ballet class is a fun way to exercise and the classes are geared to remember the “little ballerina” in you, whatever level that might be. The stretch and tone class offers simple dance movements, stretching and other exercises to music designed to add flexibility to your body.
On Saturday, Jan. 23, the Adelphi University women’s basketball team adopted 21-month-old Stefani Felber through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, a nonprofit, charitable organization that improves the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors and their families.
On Sunday afternoons, the St. Paul’s Field House is open for “Family Fun” for village families. This open time provides the opportunity for families to enjoy various gym activities in an indoor environment. The gym is available for use from 12 to 3:30 p.m. each Sunday until March.
On Saturday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m., a select team of Garden City teachers will tip off against the Harlem Wizards in a very entertaining basketball rematch.
If your family came to the Recreation Department to have your photo taken with Santa, your picture is waiting to be picked up at the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue. The Recreation Department will hold the photos until the end of January.

The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club will be opening their spring season on Saturday, April 10. Girls play 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and boys play from 1 until 5 p.m. (with the exception of pre-k, kindergarten and first grade). The registration deadline is Jan. 31.
The second session of youth tennis at the Community Park Tennis Facility began this week. There are still openings available in some of classes. This session offers instruction for children ages 5-18. Lessons run from 13-15 weeks. Please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue for further information or to register.
On Saturday, Feb. 6, the Garden City Student Aid and Scholarship Fund is once again bringing the Harlem Wizards to the Garden City High School gymnasium.
Congratulations to Bill Schroeder of Garden City, who was presented with one of the prestigious “Most Improved” awards at the annual Awards Night of the Greater Long Island Running Club, held in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library on Tuesday evening, Dec. 15.
