The Adelphi University softball team spent Saturday, Sept. 12, volunteering at the Special Olympics New York Fall Games in Hicksville. Despite the fact that softball, one of the fall games sports, was canceled due to inclement weather, the team was on hand to assist with soccer and golf events.

Adult Art Classes at Cluett

Due to popular demand, the Recreation Department will again offer an adult pastel class taught by Arleen Ruth Urban. This class is open to adult residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. The class will run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays beginning Sept. 18. Our classes will be held in Cluett Hall at St. Paul’s. The cost of the 10-week program will be $105 (supplies are bought on your own—a supply list will be handed out at the first class).

On Friday, Aug. 21, the seventh-grade boys team won the outdoor Rockville Centre Summer Basketball Championship by beating St. Agnes 42-41 in overtime.After being down 13-2 in the first quarter, the team mounted an aggressive comeback with full court defensive pressure creating steals and scoring opportunities.
