Congratulations to Garden City High Scholl senior Katie Trimmer for being named a News 12/Capital One Bank Scholar Athlete – the second so named this year and the 35th Garden City senior named since the program’s inception. Katie is a three-sport athlete, playing on the varsity field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse teams.

The accomplished senior was captain of her JV lacrosse team, has served on Student Council, has been a member of the Division 4 All-County Band, and is a member of the high school’s Spanish Club. Katie is an American Legion Auxiliary member, and volunteers her time at Winthrop Hospital and at field hockey clinics. She carries an un-weighted GPA of 94.8.

“She is one of the highest in scholarship and a truly great kid,” commented Ms. Kalafus. “Katie’s teams went to three state championships last year where they achieved second in the state in field hockey, made it to the basketball state semifinals, and were state champions in lacrosse.”

As the newest News 12/Capital One Scholar Athlete, Katie was featured on the Jan. 24th broadcast of News 12 during the sports segment.

Congratulations, Katie!
