Adult Programs At The Field House

The recreation adult programs in the field house began on Tuesday, Oct. 16 according to the following schedule:

Monday
Mens’ Open Basketball    7:30-10 p.m.
Mens’ Over-30 Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.

Wednesday   
Mens’ Open Basketball    7:30-10 p.m.
Mens’ Over-40 Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.

Thursday
Adult Volleyball 7:30 – 10 p.m.
Adult Soccer 8:30 – 10 p.m.

These programs are open to residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City college age or older.  All programs listed are free of charge and strictly pick up. A picture ID is required to sign in to any program.  For further information, please contact the recreation office at 516-465-4075.

Fall Adult Tennis Lessons Announced

Registration for the winter session of adult tennis lessons has now started.Classes will begin in January and are played at the Community Park Tennis Center. The 10-week, one-hour class will cost $249.

The recreation department offers lessons for adults in all ability levels. In order to create sessions geared to the needs of residents, the recreation center is asking any adult who is a resident in the Inc. Village of Garden City and is interested in our tennis lessons to fill out a tennis interest form. On this form you will:

-Choose the days and times you are available to play

-Self-rate your tennis ability

To receive a form, please visit the recreation office at 108 Rockaway Ave.Classes will then be made by grouping people of similar abilities according to the dates they are available. Your check will not be cashed until you are entered in a class. Classes will begin the week of Oct. 15.

Schools Out! Mini Fall Camps- November 6 And November 12

Even though it’s fall, sports camps are still running. The Village of Garden City Recreation Department in conjunction with US Sports Institute is offering 2 mini multi-sports camps. Learn to play five different sports from around the world in this one-day sports camps. Sports include soccer, basketball, baseball and flag football. This is the only sports camp dedicated to the truly sports-minded youngster. Limited space is available, so don’t delay and register today. Camp will run rain or shine, indoor gym available.

Adult Tennis Ultimate

The Recreation and Parks Department also offers a tennis workout program that drills experienced tennis players. This 1 ½ hour class is available on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. at a cost of $249. Class will begin on Oct. 13. To register, please visit the recreation office at 108 Rockaway Ave. Please note, this is not a lesson program, but drills for the experienced tennis player.

Peewee Sports Sampler Registration Starts

The Garden City Department of Recreation & Parks is proud to announce it will offer a pee-wee sports sampler program this fall for residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. This program has been designed especially for the young child as a positive introductory experience to sports. Children must be four years old by the start of the class in order to attend.

The program will take place at St Paul’s Recreation Complex according to the following schedule:

Tuesdays at 10 a.m. or 12:45 p.m. (Classes begin Oct. 23)
Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. (Classes begin Oct. 25)
Fridays at 1:30 p.m. (Classes begin Oct. 26)

The cost of each session will be $75 for six classes, each 55 minutes in length.  To register, please visit the recreation office at 108 Rockaway Ave. or download an application from our website at www.gc recreation.org and mail it in.
