Blueprint for Glen Cove's Nautical Mile
On Dec. 15, the Glen Cove Planning Board held a public hearing to consider comments on the Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement, (DGEIS), and on the proposed rezoning and redevelopment of the north side of Glen Cove Creek. The proposed new zone, known as MW-3 Marine Waterfront 3 District, is slated for the current home of the abandoned Captains Cove Condominium project, two Superfund sites and a NYS inactive hazardous waste site.

New Animal Shelter Takes a Bow, Wow!
On Dec. 12, the Glen Cove Animal Lovers League celebrated the grand opening of their new shelter on Shore Road in Glen Cove. After months of research, a modern plan for the shelter evolved. The building was constructed as part of an agreement between the city, Waste Management and ST Environmental which, among other things, permanently closed the city's incinerator.

Vikings Fall to Frogs
The North Shore Vikings ice hockey team lost to the Carle Place Frogs Sunday night 5-2. The Vikings, who also lost to Syosset on Dec. 7, now have a season record of three wins and two losses. The Frogs improved their season record to four wins, five losses and two ties.
