Funded by a grant received by the Glen Cove Youth Board through the Oyster Bay Consortium, a group of 20 Glen Cove teens are spending six weeks this summer in a unique educational job training program hosted by C.E.L.P., the Coastal Ecology Learning Program. Three young men from the Glen Cove Junior Baseball League qualified to compete in the Team Championship round of the Fleer Major League Baseball Diamond Skills Competition at Shea Stadium on Saturday, June 12, after stellar performances at the competition's sectional rounds held in late May. Dick Guido of Glen Cove competed in the Empire State Games Masters Swimming Championships on Sunday, July 25, at the Nassau Aquatic Center.
