Glen Cove Youth Set Sail on the Phoenix
Funded by a grant received by the Glen Cove Youth Board through the Oyster Bay Consortium, a group of 20 Glen Cove teens are spending six weeks this summer in a unique educational job training program hosted by C.E.L.P., the Coastal Ecology Learning Program. C.E.L.P.'s home is the Phoenix, a 71 foot coastal schooner which is the only working environmental Tall Ship on Long Island waters.

July 3-7 was a big week in the Key Club year. The 56th annual Key Club International convention was held in Chicago, Illinois where over 2,000 Key Clubbers from around the world gathered to celebrate another successful year of service.

Glen Cove Jr. Baseball Stars Score Big in Major League Competition
Three young men from the Glen Cove Junior Baseball League qualified to compete in the Team Championship round of the Fleer Major League Baseball Diamond Skills Competition at Shea Stadium on Saturday, June 12, after stellar performances at the competition's sectional rounds held in late May.

Glen Cove Swimmer Scores in Empire State Games
Dick Guido of Glen Cove competed in the Empire State Games Masters Swimming Championships on Sunday, July 25, at the Nassau Aquatic Center. The gala statewide athletic tournament was held over five days for the first time on Long Island, and attracted thousands of competitors in a wide variety of sports.
