Rick Shalvoy Rows, Rows, Rows His Boat
On Thursday, July 20, Pryibil Beach played host to Rick Shalvoy, a dedicated and determined Long Islander who for the past three summers has rowed around Long Island in a 19-foot lifeguard boat, striving to raise funds for breast cancer research.

Glen Cove School Board: Reading, Writing, and Driver Ed
The Glen Cove School Board met on Monday night, July 24. After Board President Vito Abbondondolo opened the meeting, newly-appointed Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mary Ellen Freeley remarked that she felt as if she had been in Glen Cove a very long time, as she has already visited all the district schools ( although she has not "seen them in action" ) and has met so many people, including staff, parents, and other residents. She commented on the large number of residents at a school board meeting on a summer night, and expressed her hope that the community will "keep it up." There were approximately 35 residents in attendance. Mr. Abbondondolo also introduced Lawrence J. Tenenbaum, the board's new counsel from the law firm of Jaspan, Schlesinger, Hoffman, LLP, of Garden City.

Hole-in-One Scored
Joseph Ostrowski of Glen Cove scored a hole-in-one at the Glen Cove Golf Course on Friday, July 21. He scored this hole-in-one on the eightth tee, using a 9 iron. Joseph is 15 years old and attends St. Dominic's High School in Oyster Bay.

Comanches Take Third Place in 15 and Under
The Comanches played in Florida's Cocoa Expo Tournament from June 30 through July 6. After a long, hard week of baseball playing teams from Texas /Florida, the Midwest /Puerto Rico, they were able to capture 3rd place.
