Two Teens Arrested in Murder of Immigrant
On Aug. 31, two Glen Cove High School students were arrested in the murder of 23-year-old Fernando Mancia originally from El Salvador. Charged with murder, second degree and robbery, first degree are Anthony Moore, 17, and Anthony Morales, 15. The two teenagers are being held without bail and are being charged as adults because of the severity of the crime. Moore faces a possible jail term of 25 years to life while Morales faces a minimum of nine years behind bars. Moore is in Nassau County jail and Morales is being held in a juvenile center.

Residents Demand Access to Village Hall
The Sea Cliff Village Board met on Sept. 5 in the village library. The change of venue was in response to a request made by a resident last week that the meeting be held in a location that is accessible by the physically handicapped. For its public meetings, the village board usually convenes in a room on the lower level of village hall which is not accessible to residents with physical challenges and is in non-conformance with federal law---the Americans with Disabilities Act, (ADA).

Comanches Win Tournament
Great to get this one under our belt! The Bayman was a very competitive tournament. It's nice to know we rose to the occasion. Game 1 we played Brookhaven. Ricky Garcia on the hill; he pitched a masterpiece going 7 innings with 5Ks's, 2 hits, 1 run in a 2-1 Comanche win. We did not score until the bottom of the 5th inning. Richie Nelson singled, advanced to 3rd, then stole home on a delayed steal to tie the game at 1-1. On to the bottom of the 7th we had bases loaded with 1 out and scored the winning run on a balk final score 2-1. Danny Matuzak, Kristopher Osborne and Timmy Robinson had key hits.

Zig Zags Accept Idewilds' Baseball Challenge
For the past five seasons at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, the Glen Head Zig Zags have stood alone as the local standard bearer in the 1880s Old Time Baseball League. Now it appears a cross-town rivalry, dormant for over 100 years, has been resuscitated with the entry into the league of the Sea Cliff Idewilds.
