A Down to Earth Dennis Tito Visits Glen Cove
On May 21, Mr. Tito, who has numerous relatives in Glen Cove and neighboring communities, came to Glen Cove City Hall for the red carpet treatment and the key to the city. Just a couple of weeks after Mr. Tito blasted off from Kazakhstan with two cosmonauts aboard the Russian space capsule, Soyuz, headed for Space Station Alpha, he found himself in the warm embraces of family members and well-wishers. Mayor Thomas Suozzi greeted Mr. Tito in city hall chambers with a welcome back to earth and back to Glen Cove.

North Shore to Vote on Same Budget
On Monday, May 21, the North Shore School Board held a special meeting to allow an open discussion with the community concerning the Comprehensive School Safety Plan (SAVE). Due to the failure of the school budget on May 15, a discussion and action on the budget was added to the agenda of this special meeting.

Saturday, May 19, the Big Red of Glen Cove played the opening round of the Nassau County Playoffs. This is the 25th time in the past 28 years that the Big Red Baseball Team qualified for a playoff spot.

North Shore Baseball Rockets into Playoffs
The few...the proud...the North Shore Vikings 2001 baseball team! How better to describe this intrepid band of 12 athletes who have forged a 13-5 regular season record and were victorious in their playoff encounter. Perhaps the world "versatile" would fill out the picture, because their ability to cover two and three positions came to the fore when confronted with their team mates unavailability due to injury, etcetera, etcetera.
