Superintendent's Contract to Continue Until June 2003
A special meeting of the North Shore School Board was held on Tuesday, Nov. 13 to discuss the superintendent's contract. Hundreds of community residents attended the meeting held in the high school cafeteria, as did all of the board of education members and Superintendent Robert Root.

Commander Richard Langone's ambitious programs resulted in a week of patriotic ceremonies and activities involving military veterans, firefighters, policemen, emergency service workers and even elementary school children.

Golfers Luncheon and End of Season Awards
All golfers in The Nine Holers by Glen Cove Golf Course had a most enjoyable past season. They celebrated with a delicious luncheon at the Page One Restaurant.

From the Glen Cove Junior Football Gridiron
The Glen Cove Cardinal senior team, (13, 14 years old), had their back to the wall and had to win their remaining two regular season games in order to reach the playoffs. Glen Cove tackled playoff-bound Farmingdale on Nov. 7 and halfback Eric Moser scored first for Glen Cove on a 35-yard touchdown run, (kick failed). Farmingdale then tied it in the first quarter. Glen Cove coughed up the ball on Farmingdale's one yard line but defensive tackle Ira Gooden tackled the Farmingdale back for a safety, making it 8-6.
