Gold Coast Library District Referendum Dec. 4
Residents living within the boundaries of the North Shore School District-except those living in Sea Cliff-will go to the polls on Dec. 4 to vote on the following: the creation of the Gold Coast Library District; the formation of a nine member Board of Trustees and the first year library budget of $800,000. Voters must approve all three elements in order for the proposition to pass and for the library district to be established.

Landing Students Make Headlines
Over the past six weeks, nine of Glen Cove's Landing School third- and fourth-graders in the after-school journalism club had the opportunity to learn the finer points of newspaper reporting. The students learned how to use the five "W" questions in getting and writing a story, the importance of accuracy and checking facts and how to "dummy" in articles. They also learned the importance of using what their advisor, Zefy Christopoulos, calls "$10 words." The students voted to name their publication The Landing School News.

Resurrection JOY Soccer Champions
Glen Cove's Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church JOY, (Junior Orthodox Youth), soccer team beat Garden City St. Paul's JOY 4-3 to take the Long Island/Queens Greek Orthodox JOY championship. The Resurrection team kept it together throughout the season and emerged victorious after a tough playoff schedule. Congratulations!

In a stunning defeat Copiague upset Glen Cove Pony Reds 27-0. With the return of Gabby Lebron to the line up, Pony Red looked forward to a big day running the ball against Copiague. Throughout the first half, there was strong running by Randy Davis, Gabby Lebron, PJ Nunez which unfortunately went nowhere.
