Dorene P. Goyena, of Fredrick, MD, formerly of Glen Cove, Bayville and Brooklyn, died suddenly on Jan. 5, 2002. She is survived by her sons Truth and Justin Tillman; brothers Joseph (Carol) and Robert (Maryann) Goyena; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her longtime partner Thomas Tillman and brother Donald Goyena. A memorial service will be held on Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. at the Village Church, 9 Mountain Ave., Bayville.

Shirley T. Fenno (nee Tompkins), of Glen Cove, died on Jan. 24, 2002. Wife of the late William E. III. Mother of William E. Fenno IV (Debra) and Stephen T. Fenno, both of California. Grandmother of Elizabeth and Samantha. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Interment private. Jack B. Solerwitz, of Glen Cove, died on Jan. 25, 2002. Father of Rebecca, Shara, Joshua and Michael. Uncle of Marisa. Cousin of Daniel and Linna. Arrangements were made by Gutterman's Funeral Home, Woodbury.

Joseph M. Barry, 73, of Locust Valley, died on Jan. 29, 2002. Husband of Lois. Father of Nina Arrigo (Joseph), Robin Weissman (Terry), Christopher (Anna) and Michael. Brother of Edward Ulfik. Joyce Kolstee (nee Bailey), 79, of Glen Cove, died on Jan. 30, 2002. Wife of the late Hans M. Mother of Anja M. Cook, Linda C. and Eillen Kolstee-Majewski. Grandmother of Paul Hohberg and Jonathan Majewski. Arrangements and services were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery.

Edward Scott, a 40-year resident of Bayville, died on Jan. 30, 2002, in his 89th year. Husband of Helen E. Father of Nicholas J. and Penelope J. Nyburg. Brother of Mabel Macaree. Grandfather of Laura, Douglas, Emily and Ian. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Service and interment private.

Teresa N. Spagnoletti (nee Dragone), of Glen Cove, died on Jan. 31, 2002. Wife of Giuseppe. Mother of Nina D'Ambrosio (Philip), Lidia Tchaban (Michael), Michael (Connie) and Mario (Ida). Grandmother of 10. Great-grandmother of nine. Arrangements were made by the Marcus L. Bianconi Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Services conducted at the Evangelical Christian Church. Robert T. Watson Sr., 64, of Locust Valley, died on Feb. 1, 2002. Husband of Maria. Father of Robert T. Jr. (Robin), Karen Guarino (Edward), Michele, Deborah Maria and Michael G. (Ronnie). Grandfather of Nicole, Michael, Kelley, Benjamin, Robert T. III, Rachael, Genna and Tyler. Brother of Thomas Hayden, Jacqueline Brady, Anita Sobotka and Martin Hayden (Dolores). Also survived by many relatives and friends. Arrangements were made by the Oyster Bay Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Gertrude RC Church. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery. Amy Hagicostas, 73, of Glen Cove, died on Feb. 1, 2002. Wife of Angelo. Mother of Peter (Fran) and Christina (Sal Perretta). Sister of Alex Hasapis. Grandmother of Alexia, Amy and Carmine. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Service at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Resurrection. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.

Roger Sherman Ross, 77, of Muttontown, died on Feb. 1, 2002. Roger was a tall man of 6 feet 5 inches, not only big in stature but also big in heart. As a young man, he served as a pilot in WWII and received the highest award for bravery, the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a man of honor, integrity and an inspiration to everyone he came in contact with. All were proud to know him and looked up to him for advice. Roger graduated from Cornell University and began his career at the Hotel Carlyle and the Hotel Pierre in NY. He was the manager of the Morristown Country Club in New Jersey and then served for 25 years as a general manager of the Piping Rock Club in Locust Valley. Roger was also the general manager of the Cornell University Club in NYC where he supervised its reopening. He was very active in the Club Managers Association of America and served as a national director. Roger received many national awards and was also recognized as the Tanqueray Club Manager of the Year. He also bought and restored the Roger Sherman Inn in New Canaan, CT. Roger was active in a number of sports, even well into his later years. He was married to his childhood sweetheart, Anne, for 57 years and was a devoted father to his four children, Robert, Garret, Laura and Sandra. Roger was a proud grandfather of Brooke, Samantha and Lauren. He was a true gentleman and was a man who stood for honesty, loyalty and high moral standards. Roger was a man of enormous knowledge, talent and distinction. His sincerity, caring ways and sense of humor drew all to him. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends and all who were fortunate enough to partake of his brilliant mind and kindness. Mary C. Stella, former long time resident of Glen Head, died on Feb. 1, 2002. She was an active member of the NC Chapter of the Salvation Army. Wife of the late Sergio. Mother of Lisa McCarty (Dennis). Grandmother of Ryan McCarty. Sister of Margaret Cummings. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at St. Hyacinth Church. Joseph Martone, of Sea Cliff, died on Feb. 1, 2002. He retired after 48 1/2 years as a roving foreman for LILCO and was an avid golfer. Husband for over 51 years of Patricia (nee McGrady). Father of Joseph, his wife and three children. Father of Jeanne Marton and her children Edward Rykowski, Christine Saylor and her husband Shawn. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at St. Boniface Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.

Patricia Martone, of Sea Cliff, died on Feb. 2, 2002. Wife of the late Joseph. Mother of Joseph, his wife and three children. Ann Dlugon (nee Nardella), of Glen Cove, died on Feb. 2, 2002. Wife of the late Frank. Mother of Kathy Weber (Steve), Ann Marie Martinez (Jose), Frank and David. Sister of Jeanette Buonincontri.
