Farmer's Market Opens Doors and Lets the Shopping Begin
The grand opening of Farmer's Market, the long-awaited new supermarket in Glen Cove, took place on the morning of Tuesday, September 24. Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp welcomed the new business to the city, and she and members of the chamber of commerce participated in the ribbon cutting surrounded by a crowd of eager shoppers.

Knights of Columbus Holds Blood Drive
The Long Island Blood Services will be at the Knights of Columbus hall at 83 Sea Cliff Avenue in Glen Cove on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 3:30 to 9 p.m. A delicious roast beef dinner will be served to all those willing to donate. The dinner will be prepared by members of the Knights of Columbus and served by the Columbiettes. The Columbiettes will also prepare home baked desserts.

From The Glen Cove Junior Football Gridiron
On Sunday, Sept. 22, the Glen Cove Cardinals Midget White hosted Levittown White. Glen Cove received the opening kick-off and marched down to the 20 yard line before a penalty and the Levittown defense stopped the Cardinals. Four plays and out for Levittown and the Glen Cove offense was back in business. Two Zach Boyajian runs and a facemask put Glen Cove on the four yard line. Chris Borer followed the blocks of Walter Hauenstein, Chris Melillo and Kevin Victoria to score his first TD of the season on a quarterback sneak and make the score 6-0. The defenses dominated the rest of the first half.

North Shore High School Vikings Sports
The girls continued to pursue their season goal of making it to playoffs by defeating Locust Valley and Cold Spring Harbor in league action. The Vikings swept the Falcons on the road 25-14, 25-1 and 26-24 in the Tuesday match. Meredith Vogenberger had five aces and four kills in the final game and Kim Lerch had seven aces and five kills overall.
