On Sunday, Sept. 22, the Glen Cove Cardinals Midget White hosted Levittown White. Glen Cove received the opening kick-off and marched down to the 20 yard line before a penalty and the Levittown defense stopped the Cardinals. Four plays and out for Levittown and the Glen Cove offense was back in business. Two Zach Boyajian runs and a facemask put Glen Cove on the four yard line. Chris Borer followed the blocks of Walter Hauenstein, Chris Melillo and Kevin Victoria to score his first TD of the season on a quarterback sneak and make the score 6-0. The defenses dominated the rest of the first half.

At the start of the second half, the Glen Cove defense asserted itself and came up with a turnover courtesy of a Stefan Schwartz interception. One play later Ryan Hopke raced down the left side for a 50 yard TD. Chris Borer passed to Stefan Schwartz for the point after and the score was 13-0. A Billy Johansen fumble recovery put the Cardinal offense back on the field. They wasted no time as Michael Iannetta raced around left end for a TD on a reverse that covered 50 yards. Glen Cove led 19-0.

Billy Johansen recovered his second fumble of the day and the offense took over. Anthony Leake gained five, and Stefan Schwartz gained ten, both on their first carries of the season, before Ryan Hopke raced around left end on a reverse for a 50 yard TD. Chris Borer bootlegged around right end for the extra point. The final score was Glen Cove 26 Levittown 0.

Defensively, Matthew Satchell (10 tackles) and Kyree Washington (8 tackles) had terrific games. Charlie Miller made a touchdown saving tackle on a long pass play, and Andrew Ayo, Owen Valance and Gardner Fitzgerald also played well on defense.

The Midget White team and coaches would like to thank the Glen Cove Cardinal Cheerleaders for their support. The cheerleading squad consists of Cristina Cappiello, Casey Colangelo, Alyssa Durso, Lisa Hendricks, Emily Leahy, Ashley Lightbourn, Danielle Loria, Gabrielle Moretto, Silvana Morra, Christa Pascucci, and Natasha Pajovic.

Glen Cove Midget White travel to Lindenhurst for a 4 p.m. game next Sunday, Sept. 29.

With Michael Flocari running the offense at quarterback, the Peanut Cardinals where ready to play in a hot Sunday afternoon in Bethpage.

Max McCrindle had many outstanding runs including a touchdown.

The offensive line of Christian Sodono, Jessie Ayers, Mike Manzione and Stephen Johansen open many large holes for great touchdown runs by Josh Schwartz, Joey Kiaer, Jahrae O'Neil and Sean Donovan.

Playing defensive against a large offensive line of Bethpage players, Peter Lizza, Antonio Prudente, Sam Sodono, Sean Peet, Brian O'Connell, Anthony Castro, Ryan Farahamd, Glenn Lostrito, Danny Morro and Chris Palmieri held Bethpage to just two touchdowns in the game. The Peanuts are really coming together as a team. It was a great effort on a very hot day. Next game is Saturday, 9/28 away.

In a rematch of last year's NSFL Championship game, the Levittown Red Devils came to town to take on the Midget Red Cardinals. With a game that lived up to its billing, the Cardinals and the Devils ended in a 6-6 tie.

Defensively, the Cardinals gave the Red Devils fits, as Michael Doxey, Nate Booth, Austin Bresky and Steve Gonzalez hit the Devils low, while Kenny Catanzano, Erik Dillon and Pietro LaFortezza hit them high! Linebacker Dougie Tripp would put the Cardinals on the board, alertly picking up a backward pass, and returning it 40 yards for the touchdown.

The offensive line of Steven Basile, Ricky Testa, Peter Cappiello, Anthony Bucceri, Taheem Vasquez and Marvin Tate did a great job opening holes for backs Brian Brown, Terry Jackson and Johnny Bellock.

The Midget Red is on the road at Syosset on Sunday, Sept. 29.

The Glen Cove Pony Red Team lost their first game of the season to the North Babylon Blue Team. Glen Cove shot themselves in the foot all game with five fumbles and two interceptions. The first quarter saw defensive tackle Anthony Capobianco blocking a Babylon punt deep in their territory. Glen Cove then drove to the Babylon 10 yard line before suffering one of their five fumbles. Glen Cove's next drive saw the same results (another fumble). The Glen Cove offense moved the ball on the ground against the Babylon defense but it's almost impossible to win a game against a quality opponent when you turn the ball over seven times. The second quarter saw another Glen Cove drive culminate with a fumble. Glen Cove's defense held Babylon's gain but Glen Cove's next drive saw Babylon pick off a pass intended for tight end Omar Morales. This time Babylon made Glen Cove pay with a 20-yard touchdown pass. The third quarter saw cornerback Evan Simmons force a Babylon fumble but Glen Cove went on to give the ball back to Babylon on a fumble of their own. The Glen Cove defense led by Anthony Capobianco, Michael Catapano, William Lyon, Jimmy Leahy, Erik Caruso, Evan Simmons, Eric Tripp, Omar Morales, Randell Lyons, Ariel Brosky, Mike Granados, Andrew Brown and Kevin Maccarone held the Babylon out of the end zone for the rest of the game but the Glen Cove offense just couldn't keep the ball off the ground. Glen Cove's next game is at West Babylon on a Saturday night at 7 p.m. Hopefully, this week, they will solve their fumbling problems and have a better post game report for next week.

The Cardinals faced the big and fast Copaigue Eagles at Copaigue this past Sunday and suffered their first loss of the season by the score of 13-0. The players wouldn't stop trying until the final whistle was blown. They are Nick Manzione, Matthew Borer, Antwan Brown, Franklyn Mickens, Gavin Lyons, Matthew Colella, Brian Dillon, Nick McAdams, Brent Harrison, Drew Swenson, Jimmy Johansen, Chris Theodorou, Jason and Justin Esquilin and Michael Toldo. This week the Cardinals play home and 10 a.m. Sunday morning against Oyster Bay.

For the third week in a row the Cardinal Red came out on top. This week it was 16-0. Not only did they win three in a row but have not let up a touchdown yet. That's a credit to the outstanding job these boys are doing on defense. It's the speed on the outside and at the linebacker and safety positions, with the push up the middle, that's made these boys successful. The push comes from Carlos Gonzalez, Billy Flahive, Joe Anile, Christian Klinaszewski, Kristopher Moran, Anthony Nesbitt and Zehan Joshi. The speed comes from ends Tony Palmieri and Tiquan Garner and linebackers Ryan Perkins, Jordan Alexander and James Catanzano. Safetys Gregory Bonanza, Drek Shearer, JJ Agnello and Tyrone Davis. On the offense side it was an outstanding job of execution, with smooth handoffs, great blocking both line and running backs, and great running. It was a breakout game for Tony Palmieri, who scored both Glen Cove touchdowns and had a fumble recovery, a fumble was also recovered by Ryan Perkins, who has three on the season. Great job fellas. But this article would not be complete if the coach didn't mention (as he forget to do last week) the outstanding job Carlos Gonzales is doing kicking extra points. He had one last week against Levittown and two this week against West Babylon. The Cardinal Red is off to North Babylon for the first of three in a row on the road at 1 p.m. next Sunday. See you there.
