Glen Cove Budget 2003 Has 10 Percent Tax Increase
As the first piece of business at the Glen Cove City Council meeting of Oct. 8, a public hearing was held at which Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp unveiled the proposed budget for 2003, going over it department by department. During regular business, the city council voted to approve the conservative spending package.

Glen Cove High School Big Red Sports
The Glen Cove Varsity Football team got into the win column Saturday by defeating Jericho High School 22-6. After a scoreless first half, the Big Red punchedin two touchdowns on short runs by Johnny Reed and Mateo Ramos. The first touchdown capped a 60-yard drive and the second was set up by a Darryl Hopkins blocked punt. Glen Cove has now blocked four punts in the past two games, two by Hopkins, one by Cedric Steed and one by Eric Moser. Two of the four blocked punts have been turned into touchdowns.

North Shore High School Vikings Sports
Thursday's home game against Plainview was perhaps the most exciting of the season, with parents and other fans on the edge of their seats. At the end, it was a draw, 1-1. Plainview had beaten North Shore in their first game earlier in the season.
