Mayor Holzkamp Advocates for First Responder Funding
Glen Cove Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp is taking part in an effort by the National League of Cities (NLC) to send police and firefighter badges to President Bush. The NLC is using this approach to underscore the importance of local police, fire and other first responders in the nation's homeland security effort. It is part of NLC's campaign to remind the president and Congress to provide much needed and overdue first-responder funds to local governments.

Workshop for Adults Who Coach Youth Teams
The Long Island Institute for Group Work with Children and Youth, a program of North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center, will hold a very special workshop for adults who coach youth teams. Whether it's a Little League, girls softball team, youth soccer league, or any youth sports team, this workshop will provide valuable information and techniques for all adults who are involved with coaching youth teams. The workshop will offer an overview of how the team experience can be used as a youth empowerment tool. Participants will learn how to structure the experience to tap into team members' strengths.
