    Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp opened the Glen Cove City Council meeting of March 25 with a moment of silence for our troops presently fighting in the Middle East. She also reminded the residents at the meeting of the letter writing campaign the city has begun for Glen Cove residents to correspond with members of our armed forces, as was reported in the Record Pilot last week.     The Glen Cove Board of Education met on Monday, March 24, with the notable absence of Superintendent Dr. Mary Ellen Freeley, who had a fall last week, breaking her wrist and requiring surgery, which was performed on Thursday. FULL STORY

    The Glen Cove Hall of Fame Committee will salute Peter DiChiara, the Capobianco family, proprietors of Glen Floors, and the Sorenson family of Sorenson Lumber at the Hall of Fame's 14th Induction Dinner on Thursday, April 3 at the Swan Club in Glenwood Landing. FULL STORY

  • Sports: North Shore High School Varsity Sports

    The team started the 2003 season with a victory over Elmont. Ed Murray began the scoring 27 seconds into the game when he received a pass from Chris Galano on the crease. After that, the Vikings never looked back. Galano was the leading scorer on the day with two goals and two assists. Joe Valasiadis scored two goals and Murray, Bobby Lynn and Keith Cano each added a goal. The defense applied pressure on the Elmont offense and allowed only six shots. Adam Volpe played one half of shutout ball before giving way to Mike Gerbush in the second half. Elmont's lone goal came on an extra-man opportunity midway through the third quarter. FULL STORY
