  • News: Sea Cliff Corridor Upzone Subject of Public Hearing

    A public hearing was held by the Glen Cove Planning Board on Tuesday, May 6 to determine the future of the area known as the "Sea Cliff Avenue Corridor." The planning board is considering making a proposed recommendation to the city council to upzone the R-4B (6,500 to 7,500 sq. ft. mixed one and two-family residence district) to R-3A (6,500 sq. ft. one-family residence district). Residents filled city hall, representing various opinions and situations. Residents within the area of the proposed change were notified, as well as those in a radius of 500 feet from the area, as required by law. FULL STORY

  • News: SC Residents' Comments Flow at Water Hearing

    Faced with a possible substantial increase in their cost for water, Sea Cliff residents took to village hall to voice their opinions on the Sea Cliff Water Company's request to increase its revenues from customers by $503,305. The new price of water would be a 23.6 percent raise from what residents are currently paying. In addition, the Sea Cliff Water Company wants to change its name to Aquarion Water Company of Sea Cliff. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Comanchees Hold Wine and Cheese Fundraiser at Page One

    The Glen Cove Comanchees, members of Glen Cove Junior Baseball and playing as an 18 and under travelling team, held a fundraiser at Page One Restaurant on School Street last week. Between 80 and 100 people attended, helping to raise more than $5,000. The money will help pay for 15 players to travel to Alaska to play ball. These young men are the first Glen Covers, as well as the first New York State representatives, ever invited to the tournament. The team will appear in the ninth annual American Legion Tournament. Play runs from July 11 through July 14 in Anchorage, Alaska. FULL STORY

  • Sports: On Deck with Glen Cove Senior Softball

    The City of Glen Cove Senior Softball Association has a vital program for senior citizens in two age groups. The association fields two teams in the 60-plus category with an "Over the Hill" group age 75 or more years young. Home games are played in the city's John Maccarone Memorial Stadium where the best fields on Long Island are located. While team rosters are set for this season, if you want to sign up for next year, call Parks and Recreation at 676-3766. FULL STORY
