Glen Cove, North Shore Pass School Budgets
Enough Glen Cove voters came out on Tuesday, June 3 to pass the school budget and the uncontested election of school board candidate Richard Tortorici, but the turnout was very low, almost half of last year's. The official numbers for School Vote 2003-04 are 872 votes in favor of the budget, 656 votes against, and 1160 votes for Richard Tortorici for trustee. Mr. Tortorici's term is for four years. There were no write-in votes.

The Race for Glen Cove is On
Glen Cove Democratic city leader Norbert Stemcosky proudly announced the party's 2004 slate. He made the announcement at the Uniondale Marriot on the same night as the Democratic slates were announced for the county. "With good people in office you are assured of good government. Make no mistake about it, we have good people," said Mr. Stemcosky.

LI Lutheran Finally Wins Open
For 24 years, Long Island Lutheran High School has been running a premier golf tournament for all private, parochial and public high schools, The LuHi Open. Teams come from as far away as North Carolina to play on the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Although the host of this east coast event, the LuHi golfers have not been able to secure a first place finish. The story goes that it was the infamous "curse" of the home advantage, the Tam-O-Shanter Golf Course where the Lutheran team has played most of its regular tournament matches.

North Shore High School Varsity Sports
Senior Andrew Greig won the Division II 110 high hurdles competition in the state qualifier meet held at Farmingdale High School last Wednesday, outpacing all rivals from 14 other small high schools throughout Nassau County. He now has the honor of representing Nassau County Division II - and North Shore High School - at the State Track and Field Meet this Friday and Saturday at Union-Endicott High School in Binghamton. Quite an accomplishment! North Shore is pulling for you, Andrew! Best of luck!
