From the dawn's early light until the twilight's last gleaming of Friday, July 4, the City of Glen Cove celebrated the birthday of the US of A with parades, music and fireworks. Residents added their own barbecues, beach jaunts or naps in the hammock, and everyone was thrilled that the weather was amenable to all our plans.

Coastal America Honors Glen Cove Waterfront Project
Coastal America, a long-term public/private alliance for coastal stewardship, has selected "The Partners to Revitalize Glen Cove's Waterfront" to receive a 2003 Coastal America Partnership Award for its outstanding endeavor to restore and protect the coastal environment. "The review panel especially liked our team's area-wide approach to brownfields redevelopment planning and the workshops we sponsored in the public and private sectors which resulted in leveraging the necessary funding," said Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp. "Our team includes the US Environmental Protection Agency, the US Department of Commerce/NOAA, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Transportation, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the NYS Division of Coastal Resources."

St. Pat's CYO Take Honors at CYO LI Championships
On June 15 at the CYO Long Island Track and Field Championship at St. Anthony High School, the St. Patrick CYO team competed against the best runners from Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The meet concluded the team's second season and once again proved that hard work by dedicated athletes yields outstanding results. The coaches want to congratulate every runner on the team for a great season and also wants to recognize the athletes who qualified for the championship meet.
