GC Board of Ed Weighs In on Policy
The Glen Cove Board of Education met on Monday, July 28, with an agenda short on items but long on semantics and ran later than people have come to expect summertime meetings to run. Routine business included a report from School Superintendent Dr. Mary Ellen Freeley on construction work in different buildings in the district. The roof at Landing School is being replaced and will be completed in time for the beginning of the school year 2003-2004. Gas valve repairs are underway in both the middle and high school and all other renovations are coming along in a constructive manner.

Glen Cove Girls Are Williamsport Champs!
Glen Cove Girls 12-under team are to be congratulated for winning the District 32 Williamsport Championship after playing four hard games against tough teams. The girls beat Hicksville (19-7), East Meadow (17-14), Bayville (14-5) and East Meadow (6-5).

Fifth Battalion and News12 Batter Up for St. Christopher's
The Fifth Battalion Volunteer Firefighters Softball League in association with News 12 Long Island are sponsoring a softball game on Saturday, Aug. 9, 7 p.m. at the John Maccarone Memorial Stadium in Glen Cove. Proceeds from this game between the Fifth Battalion All-Stars and News12 Long Island television personalities will benefit the St. Christopher-Ottilie GLAD program.
