Mayor Holzkamp to Accept Coastal America Award
On Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m., Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp will receive, on behalf of the City of Glen Cove, one of only nine prestigious 2003 Coastal America Partnership Awards being presented nationwide by Coastal America. The award ceremony will take place at the gazebo at Captain's Cove.

Educational Initiatives Presented to Glen Cove Board of Ed
At the August 25 board of education meeting, Diane Scricca, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, presented an extensive overview of newly instituted programs and enhancements to the curriculum. The initiatives strengthen current programs across the board, from kindergarten through 12th grade, from math to elementary reading, to SAT preparation, with a great deal of professional development support for teachers.

Glen Cove Jr. Soccer Kicks Off 35th Year
The Glen Cove Junior Soccer League celebrates its 35th year helping the children of our community enjoy playing the beautiful game of soccer. The season starts on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. with the traditional parade through town. All of the teams will march wearing their new uniforms that proudly display names of the generous sponsors. Joining the parade will be many of the city's dignitaries, escorted by the Glen Cove Police Department and Special Police and, of course, anchored by the Glen Cove Fire Department.

Red Cross 'Swim-A-Cross' Honors Servicemen and Women
The American Red Cross in Nassau County (ARC/Nassau) held its 14th Annual Swim-A-Cross, a one-mile swim across Oyster Bay Harbor, on Aug. 15 this year, with the event slated to honor Long Islanders serving in the U.S. military.
