Holzkamp Wins; Five Seats Definitely Dems
It was a close race in Glen Cove, but Democrat incumbent Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp with 3,419 votes, has been returned to office for a second term by a margin of 52 percent with 48 percent of the vote going to Republican Jed Morey, with 3,164 votes. In the city council race, five incumbents have been returned to their seats, with the sixth too close at press time to call at press time. That seat will be decided when all the absentee ballots are counted, which could take between seven and 10 days.

NS Board of Ed Seeks Answers from LIPA on Shore Property
The North Shore Board of Education held a special meeting on Tuesday Oct. 28 to inform and alert residents regarding a matter of great community importance: the two new generators built by Long Island Power Authority in Glenwood Landing and the possible loss of potential revenue from related tax obligations. Concerned over the monetary and educational loss to the community as a whole, many residents, including some former trustees, turned out for the discussion.

Glen Cove High School Big Red Sports
Big Red Wins Again! Glen Cove Varsity Football coasted to a 44-0 win Saturday against Jericho HS. Playing on a beautiful fall afternoon the Covers scored 28 points in the first quarter and never looked back. In addition to the game it was a special afternoon in other ways: teachers were honored at halftime by the senior players and Vin Chopard coached his final football game at Glen Cove HS.

North Shore High School Viking Sports
North Shore won big on Saturday, defeating Valley Stream North by a score of 25-13. Mike Ragusa had the Vikings' first two scores. His initial touchdown capped of a 50-yard drive orchestrated by quarterback Will Kunkel. Bobby Lynn added the extra-point. Ragusa then dashed 17 yards for the second score of the game.
