    Veterans Day 2003 brought a large community crowd to the Doughboy Monument at the Glen Cove Library. At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, tribute was paid "to all veterans, past, present and future, and especially those who are dying these very days," said Commander Jim Ruff of VFW Post 347.   • News: Sea Cliff Settles Increase Challenge by Water Company

    On November 27, 2002, the privately owned Sea Cliff Water Company filed a request for a 23.7 percent rate increase with the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC). The increase would have resulted in a rate increase of $503,305 to the ratepayers in Sea Cliff, Glen Head, and parts of Glenwood Landing and Old Brookville. FULL STORY

  • Sports: North Shore High School Varsity Sports

    The Vikings blasted East Rockaway High School by a score of 42-14 on Saturday as the offense exploded and senior captain Ryan Galvin scored four touchdowns. His first touchdown, a two-yard plunge into the end zone, came on the game's opening drive and was set up by sophomore Chris Palliser's 60-yard run. Shortly after, Galvin muscled his way back into the end zone with a two-yard run following a key interception by senior middle linebacker Zack Collins. Mike Ragusa ran in the two-point conversion. East Rockaway was able to punch one score in, but the Vikings answered right back when Galvin scored for the third time in the half after senior Chris Galano got a key first down with a pass from quarterback Will Kunkel.   • Sports: Cardinals Are Diamond Pros Fall League Champs

    The Glen Cove Cardinals are the 2003 Diamond Pros Fall League Champions, defending their championship in the 16U division from a year ago. The team played up a division in the summer; the result was a Connie Mack Championship. This fall they also moved up and competed in the 18U division. The result was just a little better, with the team going undefeated at 16 wins and 0 losses and capturing the fall classic for the second consecutive year. FULL STORY
