Holzkamp Rings in Second Term
The year 2004 was scarcely 13 hours old, but Glen Cove Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp was at City Hall at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan.1, ready to embark on the second term of her history-making administration as the first woman elected mayor of Glen Cove. Members of the City Council stood ready also, with the necessary absence of one member. The sixth and final seat on the council has not yet been decided.

SC Board Meeting on Fire With Grant to SCFD
The Sea Cliff Village Board met for the first time in 2004 this past Monday night to celebrate the firefighters' grant and usher in a new season of meetings.

North Shore High School Varsity Sports
It was a victory for North Shore as the Vikings started their league season Saturday against Cold Spring Harbor. The final score was 64-56 before a home crowd. The game was tied in the third quarter, but with Billy Melillo's 27 points and 35 rebounds and Mike Frey's 14 points and added rebounds, North Shore was able to finish strong.

Glen Cove Students Honored by Nassau Zone
Two students from Glen Cove High School were honored recently at a dinner at the Milleridge Cottage for their outstanding performance in physical education. Each year the Nassau Zone of the NYS Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance sponsors the award and dinner for all Nassau County Schools.
