GC Board Revisits and Revises Budget
Following the initial defeat of a school budget, as was experienced in Glen Cove on May 18, three options are open to the administration and board of education: the board can choose to put the same budget up for a second vote, hoping that the defeat was caused by complacent residents who didn't bother to vote; the board can choose to go immediately to an austerity, or contingency budget; or the board can re-work the current budget and present a revised one for a revote.

North Shore Budget Re-Vote Slated for June 15
The North Shore Board of Education will submit its budget proposal for a second public vote on Tuesday, June 15 in the high school gymnasium from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The budget calls for a 6.45 percent spending increase. If voters reject the proposal a second time, the district must operate under a contingency plan determined by a state formula that limits growth to 5.21 percent.
