The King Dream Lives On in Glen Cove
The community of Glen Cove came out this week, as it does each year, to honor and keep alive the memory of slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The day began with the traditional march from the First Baptist Church on Continental Place to the Wunsch Auditorium at Finley Middle School, a march made in tribute to Dr. King's steps toward equality and voting rights in Montgomery, Selma and Washington, D.C. The Glen Cove march was replete with song and spirit led by Sheryl Goodine.

North Shore BOE Discusses ABCs of District
At the Thursday, Jan. 13 meeting of the North Shore School Board, Board President Tom Murphy announced that negotiations with the teachers should come to a closing soon. "We have reached an agreement in principle," said Mr. Murphy.

Glen Cove High School Bid Red Sports
The seventh annual Glen Cove Holiday Wrestling Tournament was held on December 29. Thirteen teams from Nassau County, the Catholic and private schools and Section I Westchester County competed. As always it was a highly competitive tournament and a very successful day. The wrestling team would like to thank Linda Perlman and the Glen Cove High School Booster Club for sponsoring the tournament as well as for working the food sales. The team also wishes to thank the faculty and staff who helped out, especially Mr. Barry for the TV setup.

North Shore High School Viking Sports
Last Friday night the North Shore Vikings battled Bethpage. With two seconds on the clock, North Shore lost with a final score of 61-59. This exciting two-point game forced the team to change up about 16 times. Mike Frey played exceptionally well and scored frequently with a total of 23 points. Ryan Berglin added with four 3-pointers and a total of 18 points, and Bill Melillo totaled 13 points. The team pressed the whole game but they could not overcome the final jump shot. North Shore's season thus far leaves them with a league record of 2-2 and an overall record of 6-3.
