Mayor Holzkamp says all the stores in the downtown area of Glen Cove are occupied and business is booming. The truth is anyone with two eyes can see there are several empty storefronts with for rent signs. A couple of the vacant buildings are within about 100 feet from the entrance to City

Hall; the mayor is either out of touch or does not want to face the facts.

The downtown area has been a revolving door for businesses during the mayor's two terms and continues to be so. Ignoring the empty storefronts

will not make downtown a success; a solid plan to revitalize the downtown area must be implemented. If the mayor has a plan to solve the woes of the businesses in the downtown area, it is not working.

Furthermore, anyone who took the time to speak to business owners in the downtown area would know that many businesses are hurting and some are considering closing their doors.
