Avalon at Glen Cove II will feature 111 luxury rental apartments along with an array of amenities including a fitness center and outdoor heated pool. Construction on Avalon at Glen Cove Phase II is expected to be completed by the fall of 2007.
Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp said, "We are thrilled with the success of Avalon I in our downtown and we are looking forward to continuing our successful partnership with AvalonBay Communities as they commence the construction of their second building. AvalonBay Communities' first building in our city earned Vision Long Island's Smart Growth Award which proves Glen Cove is at the forefront of modern planning for successful downtowns. Avalon I has not only increased the tax base for the City of Glen Cove but our local merchants have reported a notable increase in their business since the occupancy of the building. With Avalon II, we are once again beautifying a long-time vacant piece of property, putting it to productive use and adding it to our tax base."
"We are excited to expand our presence on the North Shore of Long Island with the addition of our newest upscale community, Avalon at Glen Cove Phase II," said Matt Whalen, vice president - Development for AvalonBay. "We are very pleased to have been a part of the revitalization of Glen Cove and are proud to be contributing to the growth of the area. Avalon at Glen Cove's 256 luxury units are fully occupied, and with over half of its current residents under the age of 35, they are contributing to the local economy and the vibrancy of the community. With the success of our first property in Glen Cove, the new property promises to offer more of the extraordinary amenities and luxury living conditions and we are confident that will attract more young residents to Glen Cove."
Avalon at Glen Cove Phase I and II's advantageous location lets residents enjoy all the best of North Shore living; pristine beaches, marinas, upscale shopping and dining, along with easy access to Manhattan. The array of amenities, combined with the lifestyle and features of Glen Cove and the North Shore, ensure living at Avalon at Glen Cove is time well spent.
