Ralph Suozzi Elected Mayor of Glen Cove
Ralph Suozzi is a familiar name all around Glen Cove, but as of Jan. 1, 2006, his name will be preceded by the honorific "Mayor." In a hard run, grass roots campaign, Mr. Suozzi, who ran on the Glen Cove Voters line, has won election as Glen Cove's mayor, beating out two-term incumbent Democrat Mary Ann Holzkamp and Republican candidate Drew Fonrose.

Fire Damages 12 Boats at Jude Thaddeus Marina
Fire sirens began to roar through Glen Cove on Monday, Nov. 7 at about 12:30 p.m. when Bob Citko, dispatcher for the Glen Cove Fire Department received notification from a member of the Anglers Club that a boat moored at the Jude Thaddeus Marina was on fire. Glen Cove Police also received multiple calls.

Bob Phillips Bowls Fifth Perfect Game
Bob Phillips has just bowled his fifth 300, or perfect game at New Cove Lanes in Glen Cove; three of the games were in league competition. Bob's achievement is even more amazing since all five games were bowled after he became legally blind. Bob cannot see the pins but uses the spots at the foul line to adjust direction. Congratulations to a fine bowler!

North Shore High School Vikings Sports
In an epic battle between two great runners, eighth-grader Brianna Welch won the Nassau County County Class B Cross-Country Championship at Bethpage State Park on Saturday. Battling the entire way with Senior Megan Krifchin from Bellmore JFK High School, the runners put on an exciting show for the hundreds in attendance. Even though Welch got out-kicked for the overall Nassau County Title, she placed second out of the 160-runner field earning her the County B championship. What's more, she ran one of the fastest times in course history. As a result of her performance, she automatically qualified for the State Championship this weekend in Queensbury, and the Federation Championship in Wappingers Falls on November 19th.
