The North Shore wrestling team has been peaking in the last few weeks. After taking third in its league, the team lost a close match to rival Oyster Bay 33-30, then fell to Valley Stream South. Senior Zack Ziskin has really picked it up, placing in every tournament this year so far. Sophomore Glen Gerbush has compiled an 11-3 record in the last four weeks and has won some key matches for the team. Ninth- and tenth-graders Robert Grabher, Kevin Kocsen, Tommy Destio, Keith Lopez, Jared Norris, Paul Wefer, Paul Faglione, Jake Hojnowski, Brandon Goldenberg, Chris Napoli, Tommy Kilderry, and Nick Cortisidis have made quite an impact this year. Eric Gruebel, Brian Stern and Stephen Didamo look to return from injuries soon, ensuring that the team will be harder to beat in the playoffs. Peter Blackburn has been a force since dropping to the 103-pound weight class. Visit www.longislandwrestling.com for scores and schedules for all Long Island wrestling.
