No Moratorium on Questions at GC Council
At the opening of the Glen Cove City Council meeting of Tuesday, March 14, Mayor Ralph Suozzi asked for a moment of silence to honor the passing of Cecelia Benevisto, longtime Glen Cove resident who died on Sunday, March 11 following a hard-fought 15-year battle with cancer. "She was a wonderful woman," said Mayor Suozzi, "and she fought a very hard fight." Ms. Benevisto's funeral was held Wednesday, March 15 at St. Patrick's Church.

Brianna Welch Sets NY State Record in Track
North Shore eighth-grader Brianna Welch placed 10th in the 800m run at the High School National Track and Field Championship this past weekend. She established a new Eighth Grade New York State record by running 2:13.14. The old record dates back to 1984. Brianna finished the season with the fastest 800m time in the United States for eighth graders, and set three New York State eighth grade records in the 600m, 800m and 1000m.
