Among the contenders at the upcoming NY Daily News Golden Gloves Boxing event will be a Glen Cove pugilist, Raul Nuncio. Raul has had two fights in the current Golden Gloves tournament and has won both by unanimous decision.

Trainer Tim Lane said, "Raul is only the third fighter that I have had the pleasure to train and I have to say that he has everything it takes to win the tournament this year." Tim is a World Kickboxing Champion, and he and Raul train at Island Fitness in Glen Cove, as well as at gyms around Long Island and in Brooklyn.

Raul has lived in Glen Cove since 1999 and, in addition to his fulltime job at Brook Electric in Port Washington, works weekends at the Glen Valley Deli in Glen Cove, and finds time to put in a few hours working at Panza MMA in Syosset.

The NY Daily News Golden Gloves will be held at Glen Cove High School, Tuesday, March 20 at 8 p.m. Admission is $15. For more information, call Glen Cove Parks and Recreation at 676-3766.
